Determining the impacts of climate change is not easy. It is difficult to say with certainty that an observation such as the decline of a species, or an event like a flood or drought, is definitely due to climate change.

When thinking about the impacts of climate change, it is important to separate observed impacts (what we think has already happened - based on actual measurements) from predicted impacts (what we think might happen - based on computer models).
